Cromer and Sheringham Crab & Lobster Festival 2017

Traditionally rival towns, Cromer and Sheringham come together this weekend for the Crab & Lobster Festival. Packed with events, great food, art and music, the festival aims to promote the towns’ local seafaring heritage and vibrant fishing community which still serves us with the coast’s catch.

Taking place from Friday 19 May, with an opening variety concert at Cromer’s Pier Pavilion Theatre, events take place at Evington Lawns in Cromer from 10am on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21. Additionally there will be entertainment in the festival’s marquee at Cromer from 6.30pm on Saturday evening.

Sheringham gets in on the action too on Sunday with events taking place around the Lobster Pub, Seafront and High Street from 11am. Kids will have the opportunity to join in crabby crafts, watch a Punch & Judy show, have their faces pained and enjoy a cuddle with RNLI mascot Stormy Sam.

Local fishermen will be demonstrating how they make and mend their pots, and give us a few pointers on dressing a crab along with explaining why sustainable fishing is at the heart of their work.

Of course food is – rightly so – at the heart of the festival and some of Norfolk’s top chefs will be on hand to demonstrate how to enjoy those delectable crustaceans.

There’s even an art trail of creative portholes on display, so pop into the tourist office for a leaflet and get spotting!
